It is time for Academic libraries to revisit their vision and mission. By removing the physical confirns of the Academic Libraries will help to bring meaning the concept of Second Life. This concept is significant to the current situation facing Academic Libraries global. We need digital libraries to challenge the incompetemce search engines available on the web. Academic Libraries have resisted change for a quite a long time and the concept of second life is overdue. It is time for Academic Libraries to prove to the world that their services are pertinant in web. Pennuel S. Dladla is a M.Tech. student at DUT, Durban, South Africa
